Easter décor doesn’t have to mean plastic eggs and store-bought baskets. These crochet gnomes bring serious handmade charm to your spring setup — whether he’s peeking out from a tiered tray, nestled in an Easter basket, or guarding the mantel until the egg hunt begins.

He’s small, he’s speedy, and he’s got the cutest hat you’ll ever make. This pattern works up in just a couple of hours, so you can make one for every room — or one for every person on your Easter list.

About Our Easter Crochet Gnomes Pattern

Gnomes are one of the best-kept secrets in amigurumi — and this Easter version is proof. No embroidered features, no fiddly facial details, no stressing over whether the eyes are even. That big fluffy beard handles everything!

Finishing is refreshingly straightforward too. Less seaming means less time weaving ends and second-guessing yourself, and more time actually crocheting. Whether this is your first amigurumi or your fiftieth, these crochet gnomes are the kind of project that reminds you why you picked up a hook in the first place.

This Easter gnome is part of a growing holiday series — catch up on all the gnome patterns here so your village is ready for every celebration.

Recommended Supplies

  • Medium Gnome: 120 yds (body) Medium-Weight (#4) yarn, held double strand; 50 yds (hat) Medium-Weight (#4) yarn; About 10 yds for the band.
  • Small Gnome: 94 yds (body) Medium-Weight (#4) yarn, held double strand; 30 yds (hat) Medium-Weight (#4) yarn; About 7 yds for the band.
  • 6.5 mm crochet hook (Body)
  • 4.5 mm crochet hook (Hat, buckle and band)
  • Beard & Nose
  • Stuffing
  • Weighted Beads (Optional)
  • Hot Glue
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

These Easter crochet gnomes are very flexible when it comes to yarn choices making it great for using up scrap yarn from your stash. For the my medium gnome body I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn in charcoal, and for the hat I used Lion Brand Scarfie Lite, Tartan. For my small gnome hat I used some discontinued scrap yarn that has been in my stash for a while.

The beard and nose are really what makes these Easter crochet gnomes adorable. I bought this set from Amazon which includes 15 beards in three different colors/sizes so I can make more gnomes (which I plan to do for all the seasons and holidays this year!) as well as the wooden noses.

I also added these weighted beads to the bottom of the body so they would sit nicely wherever I display them. A hot glue gun is the easiest way I have found to add the beard and nose, and of course you’ll need a little stuffing as well.

Easter Crochet Gnomes Pattern Notes

Our Easter crochet gnomes pattern is written in US crochet terms and works up in continuous rounds (body), and joined rounds (hat), for a variety of fun and interesting skills. It doesn’t require a lot of yarn, and only takes a couple of hours from start to finish, making it one of those rare projects you can actually complete in a single sitting.

The only seaming involved is attaching the feet, but you can skip that step entirely for a completely no-sew gnome. Simply leave the feet off and your gnome will stand just as proudly on his flat base.

This pattern recommends using the magic ring to start crocheting in the round. Learn how to make a magic ring with our tutorial here.

Finished Size: Medium: 7″ Tall; Small: 5.5″ Tall including the hat
