Pattern Overview:

Amigurumi Heart

With this project you’ll learn how to combine two separate amigurumi elements into one complete project. Use a single color for simplicity, two colors like we used or even a variegated yarn for a completely unique look.

Before you begin, review this page entirely so you understand the full scope of the project. We prepared a list of recommended supplies and abbreviations you’ll need to get started, a video tutorial and, of course, written instructions to walk you through our amigurumi heart step-by-step.

Recommended Supplies

  • Approx 30 yds; Medium-Weight (#4)

For the heart amigurumi you see in the pictures, I used Lily Sugar ‘n Cream Yarn in the colors “rose” and “ecru”. If you want to crochet a two color option like this one, you’ll need about 25 yards of your main color, and about 5 yards of the stripe color.

  • 3.5 mm Crochet Hook
  • Polyfil stuffing
  • Stitch Marker
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

For this heart amigurumi pattern, you can use just about any yarn you want. I tested it with all sorts of yarn in my stash, and they all turned out adorable! While you could technically use any yarn weight you want to make bigger or smaller heart amigurumi, medium-weight (#4) yarn looked the best to me. But experiment with the yarn you have!

**Single Crochet Two Together (Sc2tog): insert hk in designated st, YO and pull up a loop. Insert hk in next st, YO and pull up a loop. YO and pull through all three loops (decreased by one stitch).

Pattern Notes

This amigurumi heart starts out as two separate pieces – the top humps of the heart. Then you’ll join the two pieces, and decrease to form the point.

When you use a medium-weight yarn and the recommended hook size, your heart amigurumi will measure about 4″ wide. If your measurements aren’t exactly the same, there’s nothing to worry about. It will still look great!

Gauge: the first 4 rounds diameter should measure about 1″

Finished size: about 4″ x 4″
