Finished Size | Women’s Small, Medium, and Large

If you ever crocheted a disaster sock before, it probably wasn’t your fault. Crochet socks that don’t have the perfect yarn/pattern combination will be too thick, won’t stay up, and can be downright uncomfortable to walk on. That’s not the case with these socks.

These crochet socks are worked with fit and wearability in mind, not just looks. The shaping creates a closer fit through the foot, while the stitch choice allows for stretch without losing structure. The goal is a pair of crochet socks that feels secure, comfortable, and practical for regular use.

Recommended Supplies

It might be tempting to skip getting sock yarn when making your socks, but a good sock yarn like Hawthorne is what helps them fit well and last longer. You don’t have to use that exact brand, but it’s really important to choose a yarn made for socks.

Sock yarns are usually a mix of wool and nylon. These fibers work together to create a stretchy, breathable, and strong material that can handle the wear and tear of being a sock. Acrylic yarn might seem like a good choice, but since it’s synthetic, it doesn’t breathe well. This can make your feet sweat more in 100% acrylic socks.

Sock yarns are usually a super fine (#1) yarn, also known as fingering weight. It’s really important to choose a yarn in this weight. The thin yarn helps make small stitches so the socks are comfortable to wear. If you’re unfamiliar with standard yarn weights, this article will really help!
