These crochet gloves are worked from the band to fingertips. The wrist and hand are worked in one piece and the fingers are added separately in a seamless fashion.

The glove is the same on both sides so there are no instructions for right and left-handed gloves. Just create two with the same instructions.

To help you keep track of the increases, I recommend you use two stitch markers in one color for the thumb gusset and two more stitch markers in a different color for the hand increases.

You will notice this pattern uses a chain 2 at the beginning of the rounds to count as a double crochet rather than 3. This is because two chains are a better height and the joins are cleaner.

This pattern was written for the Made With Love | Crochet Challenge for Warm Up America 2019. Participants are encouraged to use as many colors as they want in any stripe or color block pattern. Because this is the recommendation, there are no instructions for yarn color included in this pattern.

You’re welcome to make them however you like!

Thumb

Prep: Counting the round backwards, from last stitch #1, mark the 8th stitch over from join and place a marker there.

Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as Dc). 1 Dc in first 4 sts. Catching the next stitch and the stitch you marked in your prep step, make a Dc in both of those sts. Dc in each rem st. Join with a slst to the 2nd st. (13 sts)

Rounds 2-4: Ch 2 (counts as Dc). 1 Dc in each st. Join with a slst to 2nd ch. (13 sts)

Round 5: Ch 2. [Dc3tog] four times. Join with a slst to the first st. Fasten off and use the tail to close and secure the tip of the thumb.

Fingers/Hand Continued

You need to add a little more height to the hand before adding the fingers so we’re picking up where we left off on round 8 of the hand section.

Fasten on in 16th stitch from the thumb stitch (doesn’t matter which thumb stitch you count from, it’ll be the same stitch)

Round 9: Ch 2 (counts as Dc). 1 Dc in each of the next 15 sts. Catching thumb stitches on each side, make a Dc. Rotate to continue round on other side. 1 Dc in each rem st. Join with a slst to the 2nd ch. (32 sts)

Rounds 10-11: Ch 2 (counts as Dc).1 Dc in each st. Join with a slst to 2nd ch. (32 sts) Do not fasten off.

Finger hole prep: Use stitch markers to section the hand opening into four finger holes. Start counting from the join of round 11 and place a marker in the 4th stitch, 8th stitch and 12th stitch. Then pair the marker in the 12th stitch with the 21st stitch. Pair the marker in the 8th stitch with the 24th stitch and pair the marker in the 4th stitch with the 28th stitch.
